There\u2019s a reason summer is the favorite season for so many people. Did you know Americans are 31% more social in the summer? Warm weather, more sunshine, longer days and biological shifts all make for the perfect environment to get out of your house and spend time with your besties. June is not just the official summer kick off month, but also holds National Best Friend\u2019s Day on the 8th, an awesome excuse to make fun plans (like a thrift day at Goodwill) with your favorite people.<\/p>\n

Take a cue from the real-life Goodwill shoppers in the photos below who have the best time shopping and wearing thrifted gems with their besties. There\u2019s nothing better than an impromptu shopping fashion show with the people you trust to give you their real opinions while making a fun day out of it. Plus, you never know who you might run into. Goodwill stores around the country can hold different events, like this talk with Miss Ahwatukee, a representative from Miss America. Each store has different sales depending on the day, and you might find some other deals, too. If your local Goodwill has one, make sure you sign up for the Goodwill rewards program. Those rewards will rack up quicker than you think. And, of course, don\u2019t forget to ask about discounts for students and veterans if that applies to you.<\/p>\n

These thrifters look like every high school friend group heading out for an hours-long shopping hang! Try on everything in the store and pick out outfits for your friends to try. It can be so much fun styling each other, and you never know where trying things out of your comfort zone might take you.<\/p>\n

Sometimes, your best friend is also your mini-me! It\u2019s so fun to see parents and their kids making a game out of going to Goodwill together. This mom gave her daughter a $5 budget heading into the store, and she clearly made the most of it. Bringing your children thrift shopping at a young age can help set them up for a more sustainably conscious life in the long term, not to mention save hundreds if not thousands of dollars over the years by shopping secondhand instead of at retail stores. There are so many great lessons that shopping at Goodwill can teach your kids, including that the store itself is a nonprofit, meaning every donation and sale directly benefits those who need a little extra help in the community.
